A wise man once told me there are two ways to learn things. You can be taught or you can learn through experience. I think there are merits in both, but there is a value in learning by experiencing things for yourself that you just can’t get from reading, researching or being taught.

Although I have lots of experience with cars, I’ve never touched motorcycles even though they intrigued me. With the urge to learn, I decided to jump right in. I found the cheapest bike I could find, bought it, found an even cheaper parts bike for it and bought it too. With two non-running old bikes taking up space in my garage, I have to learn about them. Action-packed weekend at El Mirage and NHRA drags

I have been pretty fortunate over, recent years, to attend a number of different forms of motorsports events. Here in Alberta, it is possible to spectate at a wide variety of events, ranging from drag racing to drifting, sports car racing to rallying. From Sweden to France in an unfamiliar vintage Lotus

When you’re on the market for rare classic car that only had a few thousand units ever made, the chances of finding one down the street from you is usually pretty slim. If you want a specific car or a specific variation of one and if it has to fit a certain budget, you may have look quite some distance away.

That was exactly the case for Philip Turle, a user at, who had been on the hunt for the perfect vintage Lotus Elan. Philip’s search led him to a dealer in Helsingborg, Sweden, just north of Malmö – about 1,300 km from his home in Paris. He was looking for a very specific car, a Series 3 in left-hand drive, which wasn’t the easiest to find in his neck of the woods. After looking locally and across the UK, he decided he had to widen his search.
